Designing and Building the Solar-Powered Car of the Future

To take part in the World Solar Challenge 2017, students from Singapore Polytechnic were tasked to design and build a solar-powered car that had the stamina to traverse 3,000km across the unforgiving Australian outback, from Darwin to Adelaide, where temperatures fluctuated from single digits to 40°C within a single day. Given the limited time that the students had to design and build a working model and prototype, Singapore Polytechnic chose SOLIDWORKS which not only required a short learning curve due to its user-friendliness, but also allowed the team to test, innovate and accurately document all specifications for subsequent prototypes and improvements.
