Opto 22 was founded in 1974 by engineers who have designed a better solid state relay and who chose to build in, a non-flat organization of the company. Now, 40 years later, we are still a private company, lean, and run by engineers.

Our flat organization promotes individual responsibility, a quick response to customer needs, and the rapid development of advanced products. Opto 22 products are designed to work on non-proprietary communication standards like Ethernet and Internet Protocol (IP).

Open standards and commercially available technologies reduce the cost of automation and open the data for use where it is needed. Over the years, we have had a hand in promoting industrial standards.
