All rugged vehicle docks are exposed to vibrations. The rugged tablet must remain connected to the dock to assure no user downtime. Whether used for Transportation, Manufacturing, Warehousing, Military, Utility, Telecommunications or Public Safety operations, vibration-resistant vehicle docks are a must for any rugged mobile computing solution. That's why evaluating a rugged mobile PC's vibration resistance is one of the most important MIL-STD-810G tests we run at Xplore, and arguably one of the most complicated methods in the entire MIL-STD 810G test series. Xplore has been conducting in-house vibration testing since 2007 to improve the performance of vehicle docking. Our vibration-tested tablets factor in the rugged mobile PC's anticipated life-phase, use case (whether used for Manufacturing, Transportation, Operational or Supplemental workflows) and likely location of use (in a facility, a certain type of vehicle, etc.) to simulate real-life usage scenarios and determine the intensity levels that can be sustained. Our vehicle connection systems outperform competitor products that are typically designed by 3rd party dock manufacturers. While many Xplore ruggedized tablets can show Minimum Integrity with Vehicle Vibration and U.S. Highway Truck Vibration, our XSLATE B10 Fully Rugged vibration-resistant tablet, for example, boasts Minimum Integrity at Non-operating levels, as well as U.S. Highway Truck and Composite Wheel vibrations when Operating. Xplore vehicle docking systems also exceed the typical MIL-STD-810G US Highway Truck 1.04 G rms requirement. Our designs continue to operate during the more rigorous Composite Wheel Vibration profile (2.24 G rms in all three axis) without losing external connection to vehicle peripherals, despite rough operating conditions. In addition, we test all Xplore rugged tablet dock designs to the vicious 7.7 G rms Minimum Integrity Profile. Though the ?minimum? connotation seems misleading,we assure you that this vibration testing level can shear heavy components of circuit boards and cut battery cell connections on rugged tablets that ?don’t pass.? Be sure to evaluate Shock performance alongside Vibration performance of any rugged mobile computer you may be considering. The two MIL-STD-810G performance standards go hand in hand.
