Case study and white paper: http://www.renishaw.com/spinalimplant... Global engineering company, Renishaw, collaborated with two innovative technology companies to demonstrate the capability of metal additive manufacturing (AM) technology to produce lightweight titanium spinal implants that mimic the mechanical properties of bone. As part of the project, manufacturing research organization Irish Manufacturing Research (IMR) (http://www.imr.ie/) designed and manufactured a series of representative spine implants for the cervical spine region (c spine). IMR designed the implants using software from nTopology (https://www.ntopology.com/) and produced them on a Renishaw RenAM 500M metal AM system (also rereferred to as a metal 3D printer).
