Hexagon’s innovative LightRunner positioning system transforms photogrammetry for 3D optical measurement. LightRunner provides Shop-floor reliability with technology designed specifically for workshop use and proven in tough environments. Faster and easier programming for new parts, offering faster return on investment while maintaining Long-term correlation stability for confidence and complete peace of mind throughout continuing operations Patent-pending artifact-projection technology and advanced algorithms use intelligent, automated decision-making during setup and measuring, thus enabling simpler setup and faster measuring cycles. Used in Hexagon’s automatic measurement cells like the 360° Cell, LightRunner projects a pattern of millions of reference points directly onto the part, creating a unique pattern on each tile. This eliminates the need for target markers – not only on the part but also on the fixture, reference frames or assembly. The tiles partially overlap, enabling the system to position each tile in real time By utilizing spheres attached to the fixture, LightRunner ensures precise alignment of the data acquired at all positions of the rotating table. Unlike other technologies, which only track sensor location, LightRunner eliminates the need to calculate tile position in relation to sensor location, allowing for long term correlation stability. It lets you capture nonstop images on the fly, without waiting for the robot to stabilize after each repositioning. With LightRunner, typical temperature-induced expansion of the robot does not affect the measuring process, and projectors can even be moved between cycles. Typical production floor lighting conditions and vibration levels are factored in and have no effect on the system’s measuring accuracy. LightRunner’s automated programming and easy workflow enable quick setup and creation of new measurement routines The system is VDI/VDE 2634 -certified, with an automatic compensation process performed by the system using a calibrated block artefact. https://www.hexagonmi.com/lightrunner
