For more than 50 years, Endurance GmbH in Massenbachhausen, Germany, has been a leading partner to the automotive industry in the development and production of transmission and engine parts. In collaboration with Hexagon, they developed a production cell for electric vehicle gearbox housings where the measurement process for quality monitoring, including the automatic loading and unloading of the measuring device by a robot, runs fully automatically. The production cell uses a GLOBAL S coordinate measuring machine (CMM) with a part fixture developed by Hexagon. The modular I/O Flow Manager system from Hexagon controls all interactions between the CMM and the components in the cell. Using Data Matrix Codes (DMC) to identify the different gearbox housings, the respective PC-DMIS part program is called up. This also ensures complete traceability and unique logging of the measurement results for each component. To continue using the CMM even if the robot fails, an additional manual workflow was programmed with I/O Flow Manager. In this case, the operator can load the component by hand and manually scan the corresponding DMC. Intuitive operator guidance is available for the loading process and the selection of the measuring program. The production-integrated use of the GLOBAL S opens excellent potential for increasing production efficiency. Explore more of our related information here ? ?
