Disc styli are mainly used to measure undercuts and grooves within bores which may be inaccessible to other styli. The spherical edge of these styli allows for accurate groove diameter measurements. These styli are sections of highly spherical balls and are available in various diameters and thicknesses. Mounted on a threaded spigot, the discs are made from steel, ceramic or ruby. Full rotational adjustment and the ability to add a centre stylus are features of the range.
To help you understand how a disc stylus should be used and in which application, we have created the 'Disc stylus application’ video. This is part of a series of videos which aims to provide stylus best practice. For more information, please visit https://www.renishaw.com/styli
