A high speed robot dedicated to the food industry of Fanuc Robotics France
Thursday, February 7, 2008Description :
Designed for the food industry, the M-430iA / 2F robot is perfectly suited for picking applications.

FANUC Robotics used an anthropomorphic arm design to develop a large working envelope that allows the M-430iA / 2F to rapidly rotate or spin on itself, to cover, if required, an area of ??more than 1 , 8 m in diameter. The arm can be mounted vertically, allowing easy access when servicing the machine or simply on its base.

The robot M-430iA / 2F offers a wide range of action of 900mm and a flexibility five axes to adapt to the different positions of the cartons.

Two high-speed and high-strength motors on each of the main axes (axes 1, 2 and 3) use the "Tandem Drive" function FANUC. It allows very high speeds - industrial tests where the arm moves 25mm vertically, 300mm horizontally then 25mm downwards: the new robot achieves 120 cycles per minute, with a load on board of 1 kg, And 100 cycles per minute with an onboard load of 2 kg.

The M-430iA / 2F has been designed to meet the most stringent cleanliness requirements. The surface of the mechanical unit is perfectly smooth to avoid contamination - the special paint provides an optimized seal that is resistant to acids and alkaline strippers.

Designed for jet cleaning, the robot meets IP67 standards and has double joints on the main axes, not only to prevent liquid intrusion, but also to ensure that the grease (food grade) remains Durably in the cylinders. Axles 4 and 5 use composite gearboxes and require no lubrication.

The M-430iA / 2F works with the new intelligent controller: the R-30iA series. This new FANUC Robotics controller uses the most advanced technologies that further improve robot performance while simplifying operation. It can handle a large number of axes and incorporates a 2D vision system.

The R-30iA controller provides increased vibration control, which reduces acceleration and deceleration time - essential for high-speed pick & place operations of food products. Other improvements, such as the "Constant Path" function, significantly increase the programming speed.

In applications requiring vision, the R-30iA controller reduces the time and cost of integration with its fully integrated iRVision vision system. With the new controller, no additional hardware (outside the camera) is required for the vision system.

The iRVision system handles all image processing on the controller. A clear camera image and programming data are displayed on the Controller's programming box, allowing easy access to information for programmers.

The R-30iA controller can handle up to 40 axes, and in multi-arm mode it can handle four synchronous robots and four auxiliary axis groups.

To facilitate and simplify the management of the environment, the new controller can also be equipped with its own Programmable Machine Controller (PMC). In this case, it is possible for the user to control his PMC ladder program using the graphic display of the programming unit.
