Mayr ROBA®-DS high performance shaft couplings for torque-free torque with high torsional stiffness
Thursday, October 9, 2014Description :
ROBA®-DS high-performance shaft couplings transmit the torque without play and with high torsional stiffness. They compensate for tree alignment problems, are indestructible and maintenance-free. In formats up to 150 meters Newton, mayr® extends its standard hubs for mounting shafts via a radial clamping hub, which facilitates installation, even in difficult ambient conditions.

Radial installation

ROBA®-DS servo couplings with half-shell hubs ensure quick and easy installation, even in difficult ambient conditions. They are suitable for large distances between shafts and for all applications where drives do not have to move after installation.

Reduced dimensions, small footprint of the installation, reduced weight and low mass inertias

The ROBA®-DS servo couplings gain the adhesion due to their exceptional performance. They are capable of transmitting high torques even at a relatively small diameter, making them ideal for high-speed dynamic drive systems. These couplings owe their extreme compactness to their high-rigidity steel and aluminum machining.

Torque-free transmission

The couplings compensate for the problems of axial, angular and radial alignment of the shafts by means of flexible bundles of lamellae. In this way, they prevent the wear of the bearings, and thus the periods of unavailability and the unnecessary costs. In order to obtain torque transmission without play, the discs of the fixing zone are processed by a special radiation process. The ROBA®-DS all-steel couplings are robust and reliable. They are resistant to extreme temperatures, are wear-resistant, maintenance-free and transmit torque with high torsional stiffness. They are therefore particularly suited to extreme ambient conditions.

Quick and simple installation

The scope of the servo couplings is constantly expanding. That is why mayr® has extended its standard hubs for shaft attachment using a radial clamping hub, also known as a half-shell hub, suitable for formats 3 to 15. With authorized speeds of 3,000 rpm / Min, these sizes for shaft diameters between 45 and 79 mm cover the torques between 35 and 150 meters Newton. The half-shells guarantee a simple and fast installation of the coupling, even in difficult ambient conditions. Therefore, these hubs should preferably be used in applications where the components of the drive, such as the engine and the gearbox, must not move once the positioning and alignment of the drive- Coupling. These hubs are also recommended for long distances between shafts, for example for cardan shafts in linear actuators, because in this case the coupling is installed last and must therefore be simple to install.

Exceptional performance

The installation is carried out radially. To do this, the coupling is preassembled with the axially movable half-shells. Here it is important that the marks on the body of the half-shells and that of the hub overlap. Then the mounting screws must be tightened evenly, in several sequences, until the necessary tightening torque is obtained. The ROBA®-DS servo couplings are in the form of two packs of lamellae with a junction plate or a variable length sleeve. Thanks to their compactness, record installation time and exceptional performance, these couplings are a particularly effective and economical solution.
