The new generation of Parker's ultra-compact PSD servo drives reduce development and operational costs
Parker, the world leader in motion and control technologies, is launching its line of single axis and multiaxis PSD servo drives. This range is particularly suitable for the food, packaging, materials processing, textile, paper and plastic processing machinery markets.
The Parker PSD variator has been developed specifically to meet the various standards used throughout the world. Compared to competing products, today it is the most compact multi-axis servo drive on the market. Inverters are the essential elements of a Parker system solution, which also includes the new PAC control platform equipped with an EtherCAT real-time field bus.
In addition, the new single cable DSL feedback system offers machine manufacturers reduced installation and wiring costs. The encoder feedback between the inverter and the motor is fully integrated in the motor supply cable, so a separate return cable is no longer required.
The new family of servo drives, available in different sizes and powers, currently includes: the PSD-S, a single-axis version that can be connected directly to the power supply network; And PSD-M, a multi-axis system where each power module can drive up to three servo motors.
With regard to the latter, the basic configuration consists of a common DC power supply and several PSD-M modules connected via a common DC bus. PSD-M modules are available in one, two or three axes in a single housing, making the system extremely compact and flexible. The PSD-M is particularly suitable for centralized automation systems, such as those found in many packaging machines where a large number of inverters are often required. It offers manufacturers and end users the opportunity to reduce development and operational costs while increasing productivity and profitability.
The Parker PSD servo drive is available in a power range of 2 to 30A and has four inputs and two digital outputs per axis, with a fast and simple connection. It has a removable SD card and, on the multi-axis system, a common DC bus connection allows energy exchange between the drives. In addition, the dimmers can be customized. An optional safety feature facilitates compliance with machine directives.
