EAS® safety torque limiter for low temperature
Tuesday, February 24, 2015Description :
This new torque limiter has been specially designed to withstand use in extremely cold environments (up to - 48 ° C), which makes it possible to use it as protection against overloads in extreme conditions.

Numerous tests carried out on test benches have thus made it possible to validate, in extreme cold conditions, the correct operation in the duration of the safety torque limiter.

Adjusted to a torque of 2400 Nm, the limiter was able to withstand, in climatic chamber at -48 ° C, 100 overloads at high speeds without suffering any damage. In order to keep the climate chamber closed during the test process, automatic reclosing is performed by an integrated pneumatic release device. This tool also made it possible to simulate failures in order to create the maximum impact on the components.

The tests carried out in a climate chamber therefore demonstrate that the special performance of the EAS®-with elements of mayr® proves itself in use at very low temperatures. As a general rule, these compact torque limiters, made of different elements, protect the transmission chains at high torques against overloads. They are suitable for heavy and fast drives with large rotating masses which must be able to rotate freely until stopped.

In normal use, the EAS®-element interlocking limiters transmit the set torque without play with great precision and immediately interrupts it in case of overload.
