Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence announces an extension of the functionality of the universal sensor interface SENMATION, as it now invests Leitz PMM-C's three-dimensional measuring machines (MMT). SENMATION allows users to perform complex measurements on a single MMT by implementing the right sensor at the right time.
SENMATION is designed to simplify programming by maximizing machine time and productivity thanks to its ability to automatically replace sensors within parts programs. The upgraded version adds the HP-S-X5 HD robust analog scanner to the SENMATION toolkit, completing the existing offer of scanning sensors, optical sensors and vision sensors. Compatible with styluses up to 800 mm and 650 g, the HP-S-X5-HD makes access to parts easier. This new development also enables SENMATION to take charge of the PROFILER R tactile roughness probe in the near future, thus bringing a new extension to the functionality of MMT.
Based on a universal switching unit and intelligent sensor module and directly integrated in the vertical axis of the MMT, SENMATION uses a mechanical loading system to apply the sensor without human intervention. An integrated probe ID system instantly recognizes the sensor and verifies its status. It thus frees the user from recalibration between replacements. The data collected by each sensor is recorded during the same session of the software, enabling users to obtain an overall overview of the part using the sensor best suited to each aspect and feature.
"SENMATION brings customers real flexibility by offering them the ability to work quickly while being sure of their results. We are very pleased to add this remarkable technology to the Leitz PMM-C MMT, "said Micha Neininger, Head of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence.
The Leitz PMM-C range of high-performance CMM combines high precision and unmatched dynamic characteristics. Rapid data collection and advanced high-speed scanning result in extremely short processing cycles and high efficiency for efficient process control. SENMATION increases the flexibility of these MMTs.
In addition to the HP-S-X5 HD, SENMATION supports the HH-AS-2.5 motorized indexable measuring head with HP-S-X1 scanner, HP-S-X5 3D scanner and optical sensor PRECITEC LR for non-contact measurements on matt, reflective, transparent or glass materials. Initially equipping the Leitz PMM-Xi, the system is now also available on new Leitz PMM-C machines ordered through the local distribution network of Hexagon Manufacturing Intelligence.
