UMB800 from Pepperl + Fuchs, the world's smallest ultrasonic sensors
Monday, February 22, 2016Description :
The UMB800 range from Pepperl + Fuchs brings together the smallest stainless steel ultrasonic sensors in the world. They are made exclusively of materials that meet the requirements of the FDA. With their wide detection range and compact design, they open up new possibilities for hygienic applications.
The new detectors in the UMB800 range are equipped with a hygienic housing made of V4A stainless steel. The surface roughness of the housing is less than 0.8 ?m, which reduces the risk of microbial contamination. The exterior cladding is waterproof and has no faults. The detector can withstand steam jets and aggressive cleaning agents. It is certified IP68 / IP69K and ECOLAB. No modification of the cleaning process is necessary when the detector is installed in existing systems.
With a diameter of 18 mm and a length of 55 mm, the UMB800 is the smallest stainless steel ultrasonic sensor in the world. Its performance does not suffer from its compactness: it offers an exceptionally large measuring range from a dead zone of only 70 mm and a detection range of 800 mm.

This detector complies with the EHEDG (European Hygienic Engineering and Design Group) guidelines. All materials used comply with FDA requirements. Its certifications also cover its special hygienic mounting bracket. No tools are required for assembly. This detector is resistant to large temperature variations and remains operational at a continuous operating temperature of up to 85 ° C.
The UMB800 range is mainly designed for hygienic applications (agro-food and pharmaceuticals). It demonstrates its strengths when used in applications in aggressive environments, including chemical industry and vulcanization. This is also true for systems in which aggressive cleaning methods are used. Typical applications include:

- the packaging of food in thermoformed trays.

- measurement of the level of filling in the receiving tanks.

- applications in the production of automotive tires or the processes of galvanizing and painting systems, for example for detecting parts entering and leaving an acid bath.
