WIDIA launches new high-precision universal chuck for milling, drilling, boring or tapping
Saturday, March 14, 2015Description :
A unique toolholder for milling, drilling, boring or tapping increases efficiency while maintaining almost perfect rotation.

Manufacturers of high-precision components (aerospace, transportation, molds and dies, general mechanics and much more) are constantly fighting between the producers of parts with high tolerance and the reality of "it is necessary for tomorrow".

WIDIA announces a new, high-precision, universal chuck for use in multiple applications (milling, drilling, boring and tapping) while maintaining a precision of 0.003 mm (0.0001 Inch) to 3xD.

Stores looking to improve the performance and tolerance of the final piece will appreciate the characteristics of this chuck:

? Added versatility: the ability to continue using standard ER clamps while improving accuracy.

? Larger chuck and stronger external shape that increase rigidity and reduce vibration for a longer rod and longer tool life.

? Seamed pliers accuracy (6 - 20 mm or 0.24 - 0.79 inches) for excellent cooling and longer tool life.

? Improved and repeated balancing contributes to greater accuracy.

Aerospace, the mold and die industry and many others face high strength, difficult to machine materials requiring torques, power supplies and high forces. The risk of the cutter pulling out of its tool holder in the event of extreme forces has increased significantly. This is at least the case of tool holders that offer precision clamping with good concentricity such as shrink fitting. These tool holders rely on friction but their clamping force is often insufficient for roughing.

In response to this, the new WIDIA Universal Precision Gripper is available with Haimer's Safe-Lock ™ Anti-Rip Protection. Helical grooves are hollowed into the shank of the milling tool which, together with the respective mandrel drive pins, prevents the tool from slipping or leaving the support under extreme machining conditions. The helical shape of the grooves in the Safe-Lock ™ system allows the tool to be adjusted in length, allowing the tool to be re-sharpened and pre-set.
